Typically, your account number is the number that appears on your stock certificate above your registration. The name(s) of the registered owner(s) is shown in the center block of the certificate. The date of the certificate appears in the lower left and is the transaction/issue date on the company's records. Your certificate number appears in the upper left border underneath NUMBER. The number of shares the certificate represents appears in the border on the upper right side, underneath SHARES and also in the center of the certificate.

6.Where should I keep my certificates?
In view of the value of your stock certificates as well as the expense associated with the replacement of lost certificates, we suggest they be kept in a safe deposit box or other secure place. Also, stock certificates are negotiable documents and should only be signed upon a sale or transfer of ownership. Certain Dividend Reinvestment Programs provide for the safekeeping of certificates and still allow for cash dividends on all of, or a portion of, your shares.

11.When are dividends paid?
Not all companies pay dividends. The declaration of dividends reflects several factors, which may include a company's earnings, financial requirements and current business conditions. Typically, dividends are paid once a quarter. Dividends are paid to shareholders who own shares at the close of the day on the dividend record date. Dividend checks are mailed so that shareholders receive them on the company's specified dividend payment date. Record dates and payment dates vary between companies.

12.Can I have my dividends directly deposited into my bank account?
Cabot Corporation dividends may be directly deposited in your bank account on the payment date, by means of electronic funds transfer from the company. To request this service, please contact our transfer agent, and the appropriate forms will be sent to you.
