City of Tulsa Wins Southwestern American Water Works Association's
Best-Tasting Water Award for Second Consecutive Year
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 4, 2015--
Cabot
Corporation (NYSE: CBT) announced that its activated carbon is used
to purify some of the best-tasting water in the United States. The City
of Tulsa, Okla. recently claimed the award for best-tasting water in the
region for the second year in a row at the Southwestern American Water
Works Association's annual conference.
Tulsa’s water goes through an extensive and thorough treatment and
testing process before it reaches a resident’s faucet. The city’s water
meets all federal and state regulations, meaning that the water not only
tastes good, but that it is also safe to drink.
For the past 15 years, the City of Tulsa has exclusively utilized NORIT®
GAC 820 and HYDRODARCO® 820 granular activated carbons at both of its
municipal potable water plants. This highly porous, carbonaceous
material purifies drinking water by adsorbing and removing natural
organic compounds, synthetic organic chemicals, and taste and odor
causing compounds.
“Cabot Norit Activated Carbon is a technology leader in the global water
purification market. We develop, manufacture and market a broad range of
activated carbons that ensure potable water is safe, reliable and tastes
great,” said Friedrich von Gottberg, senior vice president and
president, Purification Solutions Segment. “Our activated carbon
products meet the most stringent global requirements and help water
utilities provide their customers with safe, reliable drinking water
straight from the tap.”
