Cabot Corporation Issues 2009 Sustainability Report
BOSTON, Dec 21, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Cabot Corporation (NYSE: CBT) today announced that it has issued its 2009 Sustainability Report, "Sustainability Matters: Cabot Corporation's Commitment to Progress." The report is available on its website at www.cabot-corp.com.

The report details Cabot's safety, health and environmental performance over the past three years and its community outreach efforts.     --  Cabot joins American Chemistry Council ("ACC").  ACC represents the
        leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry, who apply
        science to make innovative products and services that make people's
        lives better, healthier and safer.  ACC is committed to improved
        environmental, health and safety performance through Responsible Care(R),
        common sense advocacy designed to address major public policy issues,
        and health and environmental research and product testing.
    --  Cabot joins Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition ("EICC").  EICC
        represents global manufacturers in the electronics industry who are
        committed to making meaningful and lasting social and environmental
        improvements in the electronics supply chain, including implementing a
        code of conduct for the industry aimed at improving working and
        environmental conditions. Cabot is actively participating in a working
        group within EICC that is pursuing transparency in the tantalum supply
        chain.
    --  Cabot participates in Carbon Disclosure Project ("CDP").  CDP promotes
        the disclosure of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data by the world's
        largest corporations to create the most comprehensive repository of GHG
        emissions data.  The data is then made available to institutional
        investors, business leaders, policy makers and the general public.
