Cabot Corporation Elects New Vice Presidents

(Boston, MA) - March 23, 2004 - Cabot Corporation (NYSE:CBT) Board of Directors recently announced the election of the following individuals as Vice Presidents of the Corporation:
  • Carol Flack, Vice President, General Manager, Cabot Supermetals;
  • Martin O'Neill, Vice President, Director, Global Safety Health & Environment (SH&E);
  • Friedrich von Gottberg, Vice President, Director, Research & Development (R&D).

Ms. Flack joined Cabot's Corporate Planning group in December 2003. Previous to coming to Cabot, Ms. Flack served as Vice President and General Manager, Enclosure Products, APW, Ltd., a global manufacturer of enclosures for the data communication and telecommunication industries. Prior to becoming Vice President at APW, she held senior management positions in that company's electronic contract manufacturing and enclosure businesses. She holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland.

Mr. O'Neill joined Cabot Supermetals (CSM) in March 2000 as Director of SH&E in Boyertown, PA and in September 2002 was named General Manager, CSM in Boyertown. Prior to joining Cabot, Mr. O'Neill was a Director of SH&E, for North and South America with AMP Inc., a division of Tyco Electronics. He holds an MS from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA and is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Mr. von Gottberg has been with Cabot since August 1997. Since that time, he has risen through the ranks to hold several key positions including R & D Program Manager for Cabot's Inkjet Colorants business, and Business Finance Director for Cabot's Fumed Metal Oxides (FMO) business. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and an MSCEP and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
