BOSTON, MA (August 14, 2002) - Cabot Corporation (CBT/NYSE) today announced that its Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Kennett F. Burnes, and its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, John A. Shaw, have signed, without exception, and filed today with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) the certification mandated by its June 27, 2002 order. In addition, Cabot's CEO and CFO have signed and filed with the SEC as an exhibit to Cabot's 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2002 the certification required by Section 906 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
